She has the best laugh, cheers on others like they’re her best friend!!
Meet Heather Ferris – our Athlete of the Month for January! Ferris makes sure our ‘box’ stays clean and keeps the germs away. She has the best laugh, cheers on others like they’re her best friend and is the best babysitter around. Just be careful – don’t tip over the chalk bucket, or you’ll have to answer to her! Really though, this woman will do anything for anyone! She’s incredible and we are thankful for her!
1. What’s your athletic background?
Growing up I played softball, volleyball, and in high school I ran in track and field.
2. When did you start working out at CrossFit Osiris?
I have been at CrossFit Osiris since day 1! Previously I started CrossFit back in the day when Coach Devon was doing it out of his garage!
3. What keeps you coming back?
This community is my like family to me! You all mean so much to me. Plus, it’s like going to therapy for me and the coaches and workouts are also a part of it. My favorite is cheering on others and encouraging new people.
4. If you could write the WOD, what would it be?
It would definitely have no bike or burpees! Probably Bench press, Snatches, or Overhead Squats. I love lifting.
5. What are some of your goals, fitness or personal?
My goal this New Year is to get my eating back in check. I want to consistently keep up with RomWod (stretching). Personally I am thinking about going back to school to finish after all these years and to grow deeper in my faith.
6. List one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CrossFit.
I have become stronger and faster. My diet is usually better but I gave into the Holidays. All of this has made me healthier and I have less flare ups with my Ulcerative Colitis! I am emotionally sooo much happier!
7. How do you like to spend your free time?
I love spending time with my friends, watching TV, and occasionally enjoying my favorite drink – Bloody Mary!
8. What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Ginger Olson’s Million Dollar Spaghetti, with a large Coke from McDonald’s (nothing like a Coke from McD’s)!
9. What would you say to someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Just do it! Best decision of my life! Don’t worry about what you think you can’t do because you can do it. There is nothing that cannot be scaled and I scale a lot! Plus we are the cleanest box around bahaha lol!
10. Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
I am a big kid at heart! I love helping others out. Love pickles and anything dill and love love pancake syrup! Not together though..yuck!
11. How often do you attend classes?
I try to come to class 5 times a week.
SIDENOTE. I am forever grateful for Coach Devon for starting me out and being my brother from another mother and Coach Vanessa for never given up on me and being there for me. Love you two so much! Thanks for all you guys do for me.
