Meet Maddy, our March Athlete of the Month! This smile says a 1000 words  She is sweet, LOVES travel, her family and is inquisitive! When Maddy first started CrossFit, she soaked up every piece of information, asked questions and wanted to know everything she could! We look forward to cheering her on as she crushes all her goals inside and outside of the gym! Keep up the good work, Maddy!

What’s your athletic background?
My main sport growing up was soccer- I was a goalie. I also ran track, played volleyball in middle school and tried lacrosse for one year.

When did you start working out at CrossFit Osiris?
September of 2019! I am happy that I found Osiris.

What keeps you coming back?
I always leave the gym better than I was when I walked in: whether that be physically getting stronger from workout, mentally pushing myself further or just feeling uplifted from the community. This is just a really special place.

If you could write the WOD, what would it be?
I like holding heavy things and walking with them. Haha. I also really like chippers! Some things my chipper would include: burpees, thrusters, some ab movements and some box jumps.

What are some of your goals, fitness or personal?
Goal #1 – to try competing! I miss having that competitive aspect in my life.

Goal #2 – to graduate college! Its been a long and confusing journey, but I am about a year out from becoming a high school marketing teacher! I am super excited about that.

List one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CrossFit.
I have started to feel stronger, which is so encouraging. I’ve needed this in my life for a long time. My mindset about working out has also become so much more healthier than it used to be. CrossFit is incredible!

How do you like to spend your free time?
I love to travel! My favorite places I went last year were Tacoma, Washington and Iceland! This year I am looking forward to spending time in Yellowstone, Glacier and Banff. I’m also really involved at my local church! I serve as a youth leader and work in social media there too. Recently I became a leader for Anoka HS’s Fellowship of Christian Athletes and will be coaching Anoka middle school track this spring.

What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Chick fil a spicy chicken sandwich with extra pickles has my whole heart.

What would you say to someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
I was nervous to start, but this has been the best decision I have ever made.

Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
I really do want to know how much it would cost me a month if I committed to a life long Osiris membership.

How often do you attend?
I have a 3 x a week membership and then have recently been trying to come to 3 open gyms a week as well. When I first joined, people told me I would slowly become addicted… it’s happening. Haha.

What class time do you typically attend?
As a online college student and having a job that I work from home, it is nice to break up my day with the noon or 3:30 classes!
