Bio

My name is Zac and I have been happily married to my beautiful wife, Jenna, for almost 12 years. We have 3 fur babies (dogs) named Jax, Bella and Scooter. I grew up in SoCal and met Jenna at USC, where we started our life adventure together.

By day I am a medical device engineering project manager with an MBA in Organizational Leadership. But by night… I like to think of myself as a CrossFit superhero! (If only in my own imagination ;-D)

I grew up as a very overweight child (265 lbs at age 12) and struggled my way through some eating disorders and bad life habits before getting into weightlifting and football. Once I was introduced to the fitness world and the concept of team comradery, I knew it would always have to be a part of my life.

I was introduced to Crossfit in college by my soon-to-be mother-in-law (age 55 at the time) who promptly erased all athletic pride I may have had by wiping the floor with me during a half Cindy… I was hooked ever since.

I got my CF-L1 in 2013 and have coached at several boxes as we moved throughout the country since then. I love being an athlete. But as a coach, I love not only helping to teach others how to move well, but also how to overcome the strongholds in their mind that prevent them from fulfilling their greatest potential inside and outside the gym.

I love people and I love CrossFit, so I am blessed to be an athlete and coach at CrossFit Osiris.

FAQs

Favorite movement or WOD?
Butterfly pull-ups or any form of muscle-up. To a kid who couldn’t do a single pull-up, butterfly pull-ups and muscle-ups feel like flying.
Least favorite movement or WOD?
Handstand walk - my final Crossfit movement nemesis… you will be conquered.
What do you like to do outside of CrossFit?
Spend time outside with my wife and dogs - preferably hiking. I also love spending time reading the Bible and pondering life.
Finish with a joke.
The first joke I ever told that kicked off my incredible dad joke career: “What do you call a kid with a dictionary in his pocket?”… -“A smarty pants” :D!
