The realest of real athletes this month, Christy, a massive supporter of anything cardio (hahaha), knows there will always be ups and downs in health and wellness journeys. Going through all the peaks and valleys herself, she’s navigated a lot to get her to where she’s at now but knows, for her, her support group means a heckuva lot!
If you could write the WOD, what would it be?
First of all…it would start with a Lloyd warm up because he makes me smile (and takes a lot of crap from me!), and Nick would be in charge of music – the workout would be ALL grunt work – no cardio – Farmers carry, dumbbell snatches, back squats – none of those things go together you say?!? You’re absolutely right but I love them…and I hate cardio
What are some of your goals, fitness or personal?
Don’t die lol – truthfully (and it’s an unpopular opinion) I try hard not to have goals so that I’m not disappointed – I’m not a fan of the PR board (for myself – I LOVE seeing everyone else’s!) and if my name is ever up there someone else wrote it lol I just try to not outwardly display my expectations because I’m super hard on myself (I know this isn’t as positive as some of the other athletes of the month but one thing you will always get from me is “real”) – we are all driven by different things so don’t feel bad if this doesn’t fill your cup!
List one or two improvements you have seen in your life since starting CrossFit.
I’m the strongest I have ever been in my whole life and I have done more than I ever believed was possible – and found the confidence (thru very supportive friends) to try new things even outside of CF.
How do you like to spend your free time?
Plug your ears Vanessa – I go lift when I’m bored hahah Lately Kelly has been tempting me with hike adventures – I follow the chicken littles around for their activities – I go to Costco with RayLynn – I hang with my tiny nugget Ronni (Veronica) and I work…a lot.
What’s your favorite cheat meal?
Heavy sigh – I don’t do them…but if I did there would be only carbs and then a super long nap.
What would you say to someone thinking about starting CrossFit?
Do it – no question – you are going to look around the room and feel like you don’t belong…but I assure you looks are deceiving – I learned a long time ago not to gauge someone’s strength, fitness level or having their shit together based on appearance – please do not be intimidated.
Anything else you’d like to share about yourself?
I absolutely love to laugh and be inappropriate – I’m dramatic af and I know I come across as intense…but I’m very rarely serious (my RBF is crippling tho hahaha) so if I have frightened you I apologize lol anyone who knows me will tell you if I’m talking I’m probably making a joke at my own expense.
How often do you attend?
Every damn day – being above RayLynn on that attendance list doesn’t come for free.
