What do you do for a living?
I am an RN Circulator (An Operating Room Nurse) at North Memorial.
How do you spend your free time? Hobbies? (traveling, hunting, sports, etc.)
From September to February, my life is busy with my boys’ sports. But when I have legitimate free time, I love to be outside! I enjoy hiking, bow hunting, and fishing (or sometimes just floating on the water and pretending I’m fishing). Nature is powerful for me, so anything that allows me to be outside and take it all in is my jam. I will also choose a good book over TV any day.
Anything else you can share about yourself?
Have you ever heard the saying, “I don’t have ducks, and they’re not in a row. I have squirrels, and they’re drunk”? Yeah, that’s me in a nutshell, minus the drunk part!
What are some of your personal dreams/goals?
I have lots of places that I would love to travel to someday. I would also love to own some land that I can recreate on now, and retire to someday. If I could figure out how to combine nursing with being outside, that’d be cool too.
What’s your athletic background?
I was heavily into Taekwondo as a kid and spent a few months taking Hapkido classes as an adult. Someday I would love to finish my Black Belt. I did play one season of soccer in third grade but I quickly realized it wasn’t my thing!
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Pizza or a big fat juicy burger with all the sauce and fries! Or fully-loaded nachos. Please don’t make me pick.
If you could write a workout, what would it be?
Something with cleans, burpees and the bike. Maybe 4 RFT: 10 cleans, 15 burpees/burpees box jumps and 20 cals bike.
How often do you attend, and which class do you typically attend?
I attend mostly noon but occasionally other times. It just depends on my work schedule.
What are some of your fitness goals?
Double-unders are my arch-nemesis. I WILL be able to string them together someday. I’m also working on getting upside down, pull-ups, improving my core strength and general pacing during WODs.
What are some improvements/progress you have seen while at Osiris?
Considering that I started at Osiris after many years of a very sedentary lifestyle, my improvements have been significant. I’ve gained a ton of muscle mass, my endurance continues to improve, and I can keep up with my boys. Actually, my stamina is better than theirs!
What has your experience been like at CF Osiris?
Osiris has been more than I could have ever hoped. I love that I just have to show up; I don’t have to plan or write a workout or figure out splits or reps or any of that jazz. Our coaches are very knowledgeable and are always encouraging and we really do have the best community!
What keeps you coming back?
Great workouts and awesome people.
What would you say to someone on the fence about starting CrossFit?
I know it’s intimidating and maybe even scary to think about starting, but I promise that the feeling of empowerment that comes with pushing yourself, even just a little, is 110% worth it. Plus, the community you’ll find will welcome you with open arms. You’ll want to come back just for that!
