We are so happy Travis walked into our doors in 2021, and we are so impressed and proud of his hard work and progress! You can always expect 110% from Travis in a workout with zero complaints.
What are some of your personal dreams/goals?One of my lifetime goals is to become a published author. Writing was one my first true passions and I think it would be really cool to get published and have something tangible with my name on it. I also think it would be awesome to own my own brewery or bar someday.
Anything else you can share about yourself?
A lot of people don’t know that I’m a licensed attorney. I really don’t practice law, but it’s a fun fact about me that most people wouldn’t guess.
What is your favorite cheat meal?
Pizza and beer, always and in all ways
What’s your athletic background?
I played soccer for about 12 years growing up until I quit due to a knee injury. I also played baseball throughout middle school and high school and briefly practiced muay thai kickboxing. Recently I started getting more into running but, make no mistake, I still HATE running.
How often do you attend, and which class do you typically attend?
Typically a few days a week at the 5:30pm class.
If you could write a workout, what would it be?
Something horrible like For Time:
1 mile run
20x wall balls
5k row
15x burpees
100 cal bike
10 pullups
1 mile run
What are some of your fitness goals?
I really want to get my mile run time down to under 7 minutes this year, my current PR mile time is about 7:30. I’ve also been working through some shoulder issues so I would just like to see my shoulder strength and mobility continue to progress.
What are some improvements/progress you have seen while at Osiris?
I think I have noticed the biggest change in my endurance from when I started to where I’m at now. The CF workouts have a serious cardio component that isn’t always obvious, but even without strictly focusing on cardio I definitely have felt a big cardio improvement. I have also noticed a pretty big change in my strength and mobility and also my mentality with how I approach a workout.
What has your experience been like at CF Osiris?
My experience at CF Osiris has been extremely positive. All of the coaches and athletes are very welcoming and I have found it to be an inviting place to work out as well as an excellent facility with better equipment than you see at almost any other gym. Like most people, I was a little hesitant and intimidated to get started but I’m glad I did.
What keeps you coming back?
The feeling I get in the car on the drive home from a workout. Even when the workouts are brutal, the sense of pride and accomplishment in having completed the workout is always worth it.
What would you say to someone who is on the fence about starting CrossFit?
I know this is a little cliché but there is never a “perfect” time to start. If you’re talking yourself out of trying CrossFit, or addressing your health in general, by waiting for a “better” time – you’ll end up waiting forever. In my experience, today is always the best day to start facing your fears, working on yourself, and improving your fitness; you’ll never regret getting started but you’ll always regret never starting.
